I swear i made this thread but it vanished. Or i didn't save it.

People bumping is annoying. So i thought of this to help reduce it.
When people post. They sometimes ignore the date.
Will they ignore a notification? Maybe. Maybe not.

This my idea is this.
When your on a old thread. You get a Notification saying [This thread is 1 month old.]
And if you post. You get this screen.

You are about to bump a old thread. But you can take it back.
[Yes remove my bump] [No leave my bump]

You have options to choose. If you pick option 1. Your post vanishes from existence.
If you pick option 2. Your post appears like a normal post. And you get in trouble.
I don't think this is possible so you can ignore this if it is.
I tried to help.

We already have something similar implemented. Try posting in some of the old threads and you'll see.

But y'know, noobs don't read shit. Even if you shove huge red text into their face.

Yes, right now when you post in old threads you get a warning saying "You are about to bump an old thread. This is usually a very bad idea. Please think about what you are about to do before you press the Post button." Try it out.

The thing is, the warning shows on top of the reply page, and it doesn't actually force you to click OK to it, and it's not very visible. Maybe users aren't noticing it. I agree that making users explicitly click "Yes I want to bump this thread" could improve things.

We could make the notice say something like "You are about to bump an old thread. Please read the rules (link here) about bumping, and make sure you understand them and are following them". Because in some cases bumping a thread is OK. If it was always bad I'd have made the board simply forbid bumping and that's it.

Is that what the "Autolock Threads" option is for?

No, we wont use autolock due to what i was saying earlier: posting in a one month old thread is not always bad. There are exceptions and common sense. Have you read the rules about bumping? You should.
