This thread is going to be talking/discussing politics in any country. Current events. Laws passed. Presidents elected. Now, I DON'T WANT THIS THREAD TURNING INTO A BASHFEST BECAUSE YOU LIKE OR HATE A CERTAIN POLITICIAN OR PARTY. If so, this thread will be closed, and you will suffer the consequences. Having a debate is allowed, but it can't get heated. Use facts, not anger. So if this thread can be turned into something interesting and informative, it can be one of the best threads on the forum. Just don't ruin it for people like me who want a peaceful experience.

And note: MM said I could make this thread on K64, but I can't make it there due to certain perms (they should be fixed soon).

I am a conservative democrat, and I live in the U.S. I agree with both some democratic and libertarian policies.

How can this be a thread about politics and not become a giant bashfest? It's politics, it's all one big bitchfight for power.

BTW, I lost faith in my country because of new PM Tony Abbott.

Here's why.

Dude's sexist, racist, and an idiot. He has no place in government.

I have no problem against religious people, I am a catholic, but he uses his religion as an excuse to be a homophobe/sexist.

Lol US centric.
Here, whoever wins for president steals so many money, its unforgivable. Projects to help the country are stopped because money is stolen.

In Spain it's that way too. Spain sucks. Politicians just go blah blah blah and they're really all equally bad. When voting you get to choose who will steal. That's it.

In my opinion, the government needs to leave the supply and demand alone. In the US, the government has affected the economy too much, and not allowed our economy to grow.

In The Netherlands, we currently have Prime Minister Mark Rutte, which guarantees The Netherlands will become as poor as, for example, Etiopia.
Most European Politicians are like that, just because they will look good in Brussels (European Union) that way.
In my opinion, countries seriously need to consider to leave the EU as soon as possible, because every single country in the EU slowly gets poorer and poorer.

I mean, Greece got corrupted, other countries helping them doesn't help.
In fact, helping them leaves Greece as corrupted as it already is, and at the same time, it corrupts themselves too.
Apparently, only the Germans seem to hold it up Economically, but for how long?

There is still hope, France has Le Pen, Netherlands has Wilders, and maybe Italy and Spain has their Anti-EU Parties too, but the UK does for sure.
Meanwhile, Germany recently lost there hopes, thanks to giving leadership to Miss EU.

Typical political thread:

Uninformed person 1: I have an opinion, but let me express it as fact!
Uninformed person 2: I have an opinion that's different, but I'll express THAT as fact!
Informed person: Here is a detailed explanation of where both of you are expressing an opinion based on on an assumption, attacking straw men, boiling the issue down to an abstract and simplistic view while ignoring subtleties, attacking a person's character instead of their argument, ignoring sound arguments that contradict your belief, and literally making stuff up or believing things just because you've heard them repeated on the cable news networks and by politicians over and over.
Uninformed person 1: Stfu fag.
Uninformed person 2: lol yea u fag. Anyway, here's more opinion that's divorced from reality and shows no clear understanding of the issue!
Uninformed person 1: Oh, I almost forgot, here's an argument based on something I barely understand, but I am going to express it condescendingly and as if I'm an authority on the subject!

Let's try to not make this a typical political thread then.

And Yami:
Anti-EU pirates? No such thing here in Spain
I'm actually not against being in the EU, I like it instead.

Another fucking awful thing is the way that colleges lobby congress. College is 5 times more expensive than it needs to be. Colleges lobby congress and work with each other to set the tuition sky high. Its fucking bullshit. Seriously. That is why I am only attending a 2 year community college, and then I will probably receive special training for composing, as it will probably be only a fraction of the price for composing, and it will be more hands-on.

So long story short, America is becoming dumber, because colleges are out for greed. And this is just gonna crash our economy. Something needs to be done.

There's another problem regarding tuition, and the problem is similar to why health care costs are so high, and accounts for much of the inflation we see in all industries.

The problem is that through government loans, government hand-outs, insurance, and private loans, people can buy tuition and health care without either paying upfront or paying at all. This is also the case with other things, like food, cars, housing, anything really.

Here's what happens: A consumer looks at the good or service they want. They say "Hey, [paying entity], pay for it, and I'll totally pay you back." When they do so, they don't *really* look at how much it would cost. It's too abstract for most consumers to really understand the cost. And the paying entity doesn't mind paying any cost because the more they pay, the more they get back with interest. In the case of insurance, the more they pay, the more they can charge all of their customers to 'make up' for it.

The consumer: I don't really care/know what it costs.
The paying entity: It's not in my best interest to be cost-efficient.

And so the producer of good or service: I can raise the cost juuuust a little bit and it'll still be paid.

Put this dynamic into effect over the span of 50+ years, and this is why things are getting so expensive.

Basic economics states that the cost of a good or service is set to the point in which the producer makes a profit, yet the consumer is willing to pay. Too high of a cost, and it hurts the consumer. Too low of a cost, and it hurts the producer. In the case of tuition and health care, the consumer is not seriously considering how much they're actually willing to pay, because someone else pays. This causes the market for these goods and services to rise beyond what they normally would if there were no insurance, no government hand-outs, no government loans, and private loans weren't so predatory.

Something does need to be done, but unfortunately, the cure for the problem is something most people are absolutely unwilling to consider because at first glance, the cure seems like a bigger problem, and that is to eliminate these systems of government hand-outs, anyone-is-qualified loans, and our general system of usury and credit.

Dirby, if you like the EU, it must mean you earn at least € 2000,- or more Netto a month.
Either that, or it's just because Spain gets a bit of support from the EU, via us, without our knowledge.

What does EU have to do with job pay? O.o

Blarg. Are those Euros? Or some other type of currency? Here in the US, we use dollars. I'd just like a good sense of how much money that is

Dirby, I don't know how it goes in Spain, but here in NL, only the ones who get either paid to much or to little have a good life.
To much, because they can buy more than just bills, taxes, food, etc.
To little, because they get supported by the government.
But if you're the one earning between to much and to little, G'Luck with your life, because you'll be ripped off so much, you hardly have anything left for food.

Also, New-Mariogalaxy3, it's Euros in deed.
You can use this calculator to see how much USD some amount of EUR is:
http://www.x-rates.com/
Take a 3DS game, for example, which costs $ 40 USD, it's around € 29,-.
But instead, they always decide to give us a Retail price of € 40,-.

Here in Canada, we get to see that the leaders of the country/cities have relations with stuff like Mafia and smoked pot... Wow. And there's a possibility that half of those are fakes (I think not). And we have problems with slowness of builders and we have <<thousands>> of stupid manifestations.

But I'm still having a good life.
