Is there a possibility to let mario start the level on the layer behind fences? I mean, so you dont have to use the flip fence ^^

There is probably a memory variable that can be forced to be a certain value to make mario always be behind a fence or with a more complicated code just when you start the level.

So you mean an ASM hack? That would be nice!

Well that idea will pretty much work all the time. But I hope there is an easier way to toggle it... like if it was in the area file.

Little offtopic: Is everything in the NSMB area files known?

I don't know, but I would say Yes.
But I could be wrong.

Is there any easy way to find that variable?

You could test something:
Make an area, where you flip the fence. Then change the area. Does the effect hold on?
Or are you on the front side again?

No the effect doesnt hold on. So you mean it has something to do with the Level file?

EDIT: I think we dont know everything about the level files. This happened when editing block 2 and 3 (BTW: the rom image crashed )

I don't think it is in the level file. I am sure it is stored by some variable in RAM.
If I knew, what variable.
