I placed some winter enemies in the editor(using NSMBe5 with PortProton on Ubuntu), but when I test them in MelonDS, they don't appear! Overworld enemies work, though. What have I done wrong?

Yup!

I suspect this is because in the original, unhacked ROM, they weren't in the level I'm editing, no? I'm editing 1-1, and that's obviously a Grassland level, not a Winter one.

If the enemies have a red box around them in the editor, it means that their sprite set is not enabled, sprite sets basically determine which enemies appear in a level, if an enemy doesn't have its sprite set enabled, said enemy will not appear in your level.

You can change the sprite sets in your level by clicking the level settings icon and going to the "Sprite Sets" tab

Enemies usually have some numbers next to them, the numbers I marked in the red square represent which sprite set they belong to, just enable the corresponding sprite set in the respective dropdown box and that's it

THANK YOU.

I'm really bad at this sort of thing, and I'm trying to get more familiar with the program and get better at level design. You guys are so helpful!
