I tend to plan out levels long before starting. When I started out with the hack I used graph paper to draw the levels out to convert to a NSMB level. But now I get so many ideas I can't fit them on paper, they just keep flowing and I tend to make levels basing solely around a certain gameplay mechanic.

It can take me anywhere up to 3-4 Hours to design and create a level, and about 30 Minutes to place all the sprites and objects. When I'm done with that, I quickly run through the level on my R4 and fix all the obvious mistakes, and I make sure I can get every Star Coin, and then I finish the level, ready for the testers. Overall, it takes me around 5 hours to create a level from start to finish, and I don't have much to do on weekends, so I can manage making several levels in a matter of days. If I had used all my spare time on NSMB5, it probably would have been finished months ago, but I do have a life.

Wow lol. Like ray it takes me a few days to a week to make a quality level that I like. Unless I need to make do a remake of a level (from the game I'm basing my hack on), then again even that takes a couple days to improve it to something very good since the levels are generally straight forward and easy.

EDIT: But it's all good, like they say "quality over quantity" (which I do).

I'm sorry World 6 is so long overdue, people. Year 12 is unforgiving. Fortunately I have a 2 week break starting today, and i'm hoping to have world 6 finished by the end of the weekend.

Great news! I've finished World 6!! I will give the demo to Storment soon. And now, the final stretch, World 8!! This World will probably take me a while as World 8 is the largest World, and also with the way I have designed my Space levels, I'm going to have to make 4 identical variations of the same level for each level. How will it work? Wait and see.

Final Boss has been finished, but there's stil a long way to go for World 8.

I haven't had too much time to work on World 8, but I'm slowly getting there. I've got 5 levels of World 8 done, along with the final boss room.

Do you plan to edit the last castle? If yes, how do you deal with turn-able room actions there?

Lol, if he doesn't edit it, the hack won't complete.
Btw, what's the problem with rotating-room?
Any ?-switch will make effect?

I don't see a problem in the rotating rooms when using Mario and a clone of him.
It should just work fine.

EDIT: Also he doesn't have to make rotating rooms.

I'll probably use the rotating rooms. But as I've said before, World 7 and 8 are clone-free worlds. Because World 7 is made up of classic levels, which work better without a clone, and the level designs i've used for World 8 break the rules of clone levels. WAY too many glitches.

I mean how he would edit the rotating room. 'cause it'll be harder to design the level.

The final level of NSMB2 kept the rotating rooms. But the way I did it made the graphics mess up. It seems that the right-half of the tiles in the room get deleted during the transition and are replaced by a mirror image. When the transition finishes it just drops Mario into the same location of the other variation. The tricky way the original developers made it work was by making the design almost identical on both sides so you wouldn't notice anything wierd. That would be something to take into consideration when trying rotating levels.

Yeah. You must have a tileset that has EVERY tile in the "y-flip" format too.

Hopefully I'll be able to finish 8-4 Tonight. Then there'll be only 5 and a half levels left.

Only 5 levels left now. Finished the Final Castle. But now I want your opinion. The Final Boss Stage is out in space, on the "top" of the castle. Should I make the final battle use the wierd low-gravity physics, For difference's sake? There have been some levels of World 8 that have used this feature already. Plus, it makes the final boss more challenging.

NO! Just no!
I personally hate the low-gravity physics. They make the game unnecesarily hard

Unless you have a good reason to use them in the final battle, I'd recommend you don't use it...

Personally I hate that feature too. That's the reason why I and ray deleted the Space world.
