This is really outdated and i no longer work on this hack. I focus on making a smw one. if you are interrested in this that is 100 times better, i suggest you to go here https://discord.gg/ehnTexE. Dude, I encourage everyone to make a hack, but this you have here, it is not good right now. I would say that learning how to tile properly is the most important thing you are missing here. And all those vines and coins just feel weird. Worry not, though, as I am really sure me and everyone else started with something similar.

I'd play Newer DS first as that hack has the best examples for proper level design

i already finished it and i liked the levell design but i don't want to copy their ideas. also this is just the world one so its normal that its not THAT good but i will try to be inspired by other games for the others worlds

The problem is that you only modify existing levels. Also your tiling is wrong in quite a lot places. Some tile and sprite placements seem just random and not thought through.

When you create a new level delete the existing one entirely. That way you properly learn to tile and make something interesting yourself.

I do that but not the importants parts like checkpoints,entrances,end but I add some when I want. In some levels I get inspire of another but I don't just change 2 or 3 things.

To be honest in the trailer you can exactly see the original levels. You will never properly learn how to do it if you always use the existing entrances/views.

The screen shots are bad I know but did you try it or just look a the screens? also im using the old entrance but modiffiying their types like pipes to doors. its also easer for me than creating new ones because i don't have to switch each time i need to make a new one. it saves time for me to study also

ric, entrances aren't the problem. you don't need to recreate them from scratch every single time.

no, really it's the level structure that matters. despite your edits, the average player can see through and will see the original level, which gives a half-baked feel and breaks the feel of a "new level".


also, in my previous post by comment I meant pointing out the oddities of each screenshot individually. I don't care if they're good or bad.
