Hello all, I think it's about time to show my New Super Mario bros hack. I call it Super Luigi World. DS This is going to have all custom music and art. I also used some hex edits from skawo like switched it so luigi is default character and mario (or someone else I have not decided yet) is the "secret" character. I also plan on adding some ASM hacks later on. As for models I will edit luigi's textures to be more detailed. Older Video: Newest Video: _________________________ |

A little tip: There's basically no sense in replacing the Luigi model with the one from 3D Land. First of all, with the low-res DS screen, no one will notice any difference. Secondly, character model editing is extremely difficult. All we can really do right now is replace the head. Thirdly, the 3D Land model has a polygon count that would probably melt a DS. NSMB has trouble with more than 3 3D objects on screen at any time. Even if you reduce the polygon count to a capable DS quality, there's no longer a point to replacing the original model. For some constructive criticism:
1: I like a game where Luigi is the main character. You can hack him in by using DSATM. 2: The levels do look very bland. IMO 3: Some of the levels are very random and look similar to the NSMB Beta. Protip: Don't copy the beta. Ok?  4: I like your music hacks. Makes me want to use them Anyway, I know you can do better

Alright, I know I'm not on NSMB hackin' anymore, but here goes my review of those videos...
Your first video: So, I was about to say that SMB 1-1 is too cliché but as you will change it, I'll go over it. Concerning your own levels, I have to say the 1-3 needs some more decorations and geography, this levels looks a little bland, some sections like the one with the P-Switch and the StarCoin for instance. Also I'd probably not recommand you to use those water tiles, honnestly they look bad and are not fitting the game's style IMO. While your 1-3 was -I admit- pretty bad, I really like your 2-1, it has nice visuals without trying to have them everywhere and has some platforms in it. oops I knew it was weird that when I found my old folder called: My new super mario bros hack. That it already had 1-1 in it with side areas I don't remember making. I'll remove them ASAP. Sorry about that. which is strange since the only hack I remember ever playing was clone tag team... Oh and I also will take requests for making custom NSMBDS music. Maybe? I don't even remember the mario 3 victory theme to be honest. But by requests I meant I will make custom music for others hack if they want me to. I was thinking about either redoing the s3 song or replacing it with an other one.

Sorry bump here, but... I really like this hack.
However, was found no link to download the patch to try it. Also realized that this hack showed no progress since April 2015. Have you aim to continue this interesting project? Or at least provide the levels already finished for us? [] -P |
