I accidentally clicked on the 'Trim ROM' option of WinDS PRO and it trimmed my most important NSMB ROM. Now the size of the ROM is 27,1 Mo (it's a US ROM), and it was more than 32 MO Before.

Apparently, nothing bad happened, NSMBe works with it, Kiwi.ds and emulators too, without anything to not work like the usual.

Looks like nothing changed, but the size.

But I am not complety sure it's perfectly fine. Won't if affect the patches?

And I will buy a R4, will it work with it?

EDIT: tested nmp patching, works.

Offtopic question: What version of the R4 should I buy? And should I buy it on Internet?

None. Buy a SuperCard DSTWO, that's the best flash card. Some R4's can be Rigged™ too.

Yes, trimming the ROM removes unused space from the end of the ROM. There's no files there so no data is lost.

If you replace some files in NSMBe the ROM size will probably grow, see http://nsmbhd.net/4-general-nsmb-hacking/2625-what-happened-to-my-rom and everything will work fine.

Okay, thanks for the info.

BTW, trimming ROMs like this could maybe solve problems like Arceus' one.

It can reduce the size of the rom if the editor extends it beyond what's necessary for saving stuff.

Yes and no. Trimming only removes the unused space in the ROM at the end. Depending on how you replace files, you can get a big chunk of unused space in the middle of the ROM. Trimming won't help in that case. One solution is to export a NMP patch and import it in a clean ROM. Due to the fact that NMP patches are file based, this will make NSMBe place the files again, hopefully better this time.

If only the nmp patcher didn't miss files...

Would it work with XDelta patches?

Doesn't actually do anything.

I doubt it. Most likely it would result in the same bloated ROM that you started with.
