If this is actually a success, I may regain my interest in hacking NSMB.  I do believe Reggie can be modified to also exploit NSMB2, but it will be limited at first.Besides, it would be nice to have an NSMBWii-like game on the go.

you guys already rip some nsmb2 files?! that what i waiting for!
 i though we can only rip some tloz oot3d and sm3dl files! if that the case i dont have to rip some nsmb2 files from screenshot anymore! and i already download level 1-1 files and i will test it later :p

Anybody with a 4.5 3DS can get files from most 3DS games.
So, basically, hardly anybody can. |

Well that's cool, I bought a 4.5 3DS a while ago, I'd love to make levels for NSMB2 / SM3DL, but for now everything is obviously in very early stage. It's great that Treeki is already trying to make Reggie! compatibile with NSMB2, but until more info is available I'll just stick to NSMB hacking ^^.

I searched about the 4.5 3DS... and I only found stuff concerning the 3DS XL.
Is it XL-only? Because I do have a 3DS, but not a 3DS XL. |

IF You want to check what FW version your 3DS has , go to System Settings and check the bottom-right corner on the top screen. It's impossible to downgrade 3DS without a NAND backup ( to put it bluntly - if You updated Your 3DS to a version newer than 4.5 , You're screwed for now ). There are obviously both 3DS and 3DS XLs available with FW 4.5 or lower, there's info on how to find them on gbatemp wiki.

The only way to get your current 3DS onto 4.5, is if you backed up your NAND while you had 4.5 (which is unlikely). |

I haven't done it, so I don't know the exact procedure but it doesn't need hardware. There is probably a complete tutorial somewhere, but I didn't find it.

I think if You install GW exploit using DS-mode flashcard , and place their Launcher.dat file on the SD card from 3DS ( format the SD card beforehand ) , and then launch GW menu ( System Settings -> Other Settings -> Profile -> Nintendo DS Profile ) WHILE holding L button You can backup Your NAND without owning the Gateway card. ACtually I'm sure of it, because I backed up my NAND like this and I didn't have GW inserted
Bear in mind that You have to have SD card 2GB or bigger, because NAND size is ~1GB
