Let's just say I'm satisfied with the purpose. I bought the game so I can transfer my Pokémon from HeartGold to Black 2, then to Y when the Poké Transporter eventually makes it to 3DS. The save game still on the card had itself a little goldmine of epic Pokémon in storage. Yeah, I can guarantee you most, if not all, of those shiny legendaries aren't legitimate.

Yeah. I noticed only the Generation 5 Pokémon have believable levels. I'm assuming the guy beat the game as normal, then decided he wanted to complete his Pokedex by Action Replay-ing his way through it.

Some certain mons, like shiny Raikou at lv10 are simply fake in my opinion. Then again, if you want to check the mons to determine which ones are fake, feel free to use Pokécheck. It contains many interesting checks that can go beyond just checking levels (for example, it checks unused bytes in name).

I showed the Pokémon to my sister's boyfriend, who works at EB Games. As far as he can tell, some of the shiny legendary Pokemon are legit, some obtained via event distributions and some traded from another user. But there are quite a few that appear to be fakes. All of which are level 5 and whose original owner is "ASH" and obtained in the Sinnoh region. I'll take a look at that Pokecheck thing you suggested, xfix.
