I bought a new 55" LED 1080P LED. It is pretty cool. I started playing through emulated games and noticed that there were some cool ones. Games that were better than others in 3D rendering. New Super Mario Bros was cool, especially in the underwater levels. I have only played a few, but so far pretty impressive. When I bought the TV I never thought about using the 3D feature for emulators etc.

So, overall, I am not buy a 3DS. I was going to but now most games I want to play are already in 3D on my TV. I know it isn't exactly the same thing, but I can play Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask for that matter. Or even Windwaker 3D. You get the idea. Or the coolest part is now all my PS2 and Wii games can be played through emulation in 3D.

Oh, cool

Exactly, how do you get DS games emulated in 3D? Are you using desmume, I presume?

Desmume yes. The TV software renders the 3D image. So I run an HDMI connection from my laptop out to the TV. My TV requires the glasses unfortunately, but the TVs without glasses are rediculously expensive. But with glasses it is almost as good as the 3DS imaging. Especially the NSMB Wii underwater. It reminded me of that 3DS submarine game...can't remember the name. But watching the various layers move in 3D is super cool.

Neat. I guess it somehow gets the video driver to render the images for each eye separately

Yes, exactly and then the 3D glasses make the new 3D image viewable to the eye.

I hope you know that the 3D effect of the 3DS works much differently than from TV's

Not much different actually. Mine is not a side by side. You do have to wear glasses, but it is basically the same output as the screen of the 3DS.

The 3DS uses optical illusions with 2 (or 4 different cameras^^)
Once you move your head a bit out of the angle, you'll get dizzy!!

Most useless thing ever... (imo)

Yeah, the 3DS relies on the vision angle to send different images to each eye. But 3D TV's that use glasses use another method, so I guess the viewing angle is wider.

BTW, i'm yet to see a 3DS... I'm curious to see how good/bad is the 3d effect...

I think the 3DS looks pretty good. I just think they need better games. Ocarina is cool, but I don't think it should have been a main showpiece. Same with Streetfighter IV. These are already playable on other systems. The 3DS would have been much better on release day if there was a new Zelda, Mario, or even Castlevania or METROID, (you weren't expecting that one from me!). Of course a new character would have been cool too. Some new major Nintendo game to get addicted to.
