Hello I'm AlterL, I'm sort of an enthusiast when it comes to modifying games, so far I've done mods for Warcraft III (pc) MK9 (pc you might have seen an older version of my Chun Li mod on YouTube uploaded by some other guy, plus MKX Sub-Zero, Scorpion Mileena, human Reptile and Tremor) and Castlevania (mostly using Photoshop and the dsvania editor). I tell you this so that you know I'm willing to learn new stuff here and want to really give this a shot. What I want to do is a Crash Bandicoot mod for either NSMB or NSMB2, if possible and not to time consuming I would love to do it in both games. For this I need to know if it's possible to:
Replace Character models,
Replace Music.
Change some graphics (backgrounds, sprites and the likes, including logos and title screen).
Change some sound effects.

Any and all the help I can get would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Not sure about NSMB2 hacking but replacing music, graphics, and sound effects are all possible in NSMBDS. Replacing the character model is also """possible""" but the subject isn't very well researched or documented (it's only been done a couple times really).

Interesting, could you help me take a look at the mods that have done this (replace Mario) please?

Adventure Super Mario Bros is, to my knowledge, the only hack released with Mario's model having been replaced. RiazorMC has also replaced Mario's model a couple times, but they aren't publicly released.
These tools and documents and this may be of help, as well as sifting through older posts. Also worth noting is that Mario is separated into two NSBMDs - one for the head, and one for the body (there might also be an extra for his cap). Both of those NSBMDs contain two boned models. That's pretty much all I know, if it helps.
