As of 2019, what is the safest/most efficient way to play custom levels on a real DS console? I bought an R4 card from ebay and my purchase was cancelled, for some reason. Judging from some threads here, R4 card may be crappy and some are fake. What are some good cards to buy then?

Which Ds do you have? If it's a Dsi or a 3ds, you can homebrew it and use Twilight Menu++. If not, the R4 is the best choice

Yeah. You only need an SD card (not bigger than 2gb) and watch a tutorial on Youtube 'how to homebrew a dsi'

Hey guys thanks for the replies, I know I'm late but I've been kinda busy... Anyways, I managed to get my R4 Gold Pro card (finally) and it works fine, however I may Homebrew my DSi in the future depending on how long it lasts. It is a timebomb, which I was unaware was a thing on these cards up until I got it (I did not do much reading beforehand, not too bright on my part). I've heard if you change the date back a couple years, it can solve the problem, but I have no confirmation though.
Anyways, thank you all, now I can play on my DSi!!
