Hello guys, I'm a noob when it comes to NSMBeditor. Can some give me a very detailed, step by step explanation on how to modify NSMBDS rom so I can save at any time on the world map? All of the other tutorials that I used didn't seem to work for me and I really need this feature because it's so practical. Thank you.

Skawo has the script (https://nsmbhd.net/thread/2569-misc-patches-thread). You need to decompress overlays 9_0 and 9_9 on an older version of the NSMB editor (click each overlay, and click "Decompress overlay" in the corner). Open the ROM in an external hex editor, find each line on the left, and replace it with the corresponding line on the right.

Use the search button next time.

The link that you posted is not working, I got a 404 error. What older version of nsmbe do I need to accomplish this? Thx.

add a slash at the end of the given URL.

/thread/2569-misc-patches-thread/

this fixes most 404 links of this kind on the site

I followed the steps but when I opened the extracted file in my external hex editor. I used the search function to try and find code already in the ROM. The editor kept saying the there was no matching code in the original ROM.

You don't need to extract the files; just load the entire ROM. Also, you sometimes need to search both ways, instead of just forward (the search window should have that).

questions in this situation: what ROM do you have, is it the right region (US) and is it a common dump. next, did you decompress the overlay needed to find the value. there's a different one specified for each ASM hack to apply.
