Could it be a good idea if you can see where you come when you get fired to the pipe cannon?
Something of dotted lines, or something. Just as you have a sign by the moving platforms. Then you can keep in mind, if you want Mario/Luigi get to a specific place. Perhaps there are two signs/symbols. One for normal Mario, and one for Mini Mario. (Sorry if this is unclear English, but this message is hard to translate ) @ KingYoshi |

Oh, this would be very nice.
Maybe it should only display if the sprite is selected. It will be tricky to get the trajectory shape right though... |

I made some experiments with the angle set to far right, and got something like this:
This is for normal Mario, but the factor for Mini Mario must be 2x or something simple. Since the trajectory is a simple parabola, I guess our math genius Dirbaio can calculate us some nice function _________________________ Kuribo64 - zrghij |

Hey,I have checked out the very far right function and...
In normal you land after flying at the 157th Block and you slide until the 164th Block. With Mini Mushroom you land after flying at the 268th Block and you slide until the 275th Block. _________________________ I'm out of Hacking. Of ALL HACKING... I guess it'll be easier if we make an ASM hack that writes out Mario's position each frame and use that

I'm not sure if it'll have a beautiful function or whatever.
For example, the physics emulate air friction. Or a max-speed, whatever you want to call it. I mean, if you fall, you get to a "maximum falling speed" instead of constantly accelerating downwards. So at that point the falling curve is no longer a parabola :| |

iirc when I played NSMBDS his speed stayed the same, but it varies depending on what angle he shoots out of.

I just realized something ...
The place where you end up, depends also on where the walls are ...? And also how high the ground is anywhere? EDIT: Yes! I calculated how far you get when Mini Mario if you get fired from a Pipe Cannon with option Far right. Between the pipe and the place where Mini Mario will stand are 99 blocks. So Mini Mario gets 100 blocks ahead. Between the pipe and the place where Normal Mario comes with the option Far right is 31 blocks. So Normal Mario gets 32 blocks ahead. |

But knowing that Mario gets X blocks right in a horizontal ground is useless. We need the coordinates of the whole trajectory to be able to draw something.

Is it possible to create a lua script for desmume to track mario's movement?
By that I mean: will somebody with skill do it? |

Sorry for the bump.
But I was wondering if there's someone planning to, or wants to (with Microsoft Excel or an ASM hack or something like that) check Mario's movement, so that we can continue with this. Then we'll eventually be able to set that you can see Mario's movement, when selected a Pipe Cannon in NSMBe. Because I (still) think this could be a really useful idea. (and I don't think I'm the only one who thinks that.) |
