Dirbaio needs to stop ignoring this issue.

Today, Thierry was unable to join because there were too many people connected via the board's client. A while after, everyone who was connected via the server, got G-lined. Including Dirbaio and NinaBot.

For the third fucking time already.

This issue should NOT exist.

Agreed. I can imagine how annoying it must be.

In the meantime: http://kuribo64.net/?page=irc&chan=nsmbhd

This works. And doesn't kick you out.

Provided you have Java installed, of course.

I propose we move to a network that has a decent WebIRC instead, such as Freenode.

Freenode? You know they don't allow ROM hacking (or to be exact, "proprietary game software modding"). Then again, if you are considering moving the channel (again...), then I could set an IRC network on my server, if you want to, with working, proper WebIRC. I already set a network before (as a test).

I would be on board with it, but what about #kuribo64 and #smg2.5 as well?

The bigger the server is, the bigger a target it is for attacks and such.

Also yay, moving to another server just to let webirc people connect easily. Great solution. What are your gripes with the Java IRC client?

#kuribo64 and #SMG2.5 aren't moving.

GlitchMr: They don't allow ROM hacking? Good to know, thanks. I'm pretty sure there are others that do, though.
And NOPE, we're not moving to an IRC hosted by you.

Mega-Mario: Whatever :|
I truly believe the board's chat should be easily accessible for everyone without having to install IRC clients or use a shitty Java applet. That's why I've always wanted to keep using qwebirc, and now that it seems it's no longer possible, move elsewhere where it is.

Moving to a different server just for that is really putting too much effort in it.

If people can't be assed to either install Java or use a standalone IRC client, fuck them.

And again, what's wrong with the 'shitty Java applet'? It works fine. It throws those warnings, yes, but it works fine.

Moving is not a lot of effort. Just registering the channel and changing links.

And the Java applet *doesn't* work most of the time. Depending on your configuration of browser and plug-in. And lots of browsers aggressively blacklist java due to security issues. And even when it does work, it's interface sucks.

The proof for the above is that when we switched to qwebirc much more people came to the irc than before.

Seems the applet's getting too old, indeed. The JRE version it's built for is outdated.

Now, what about just telling the users to use Mibbit?

Mibbit could be embedded into the irc page.

I thought everyone agreed that Mibbit sucked, that's why I went for qwebirc, it sucks less.

?!?

If using qwebirc implies going through the trouble of moving because we need a server that offers a qwebirc applet, well, yeah, it's easier to go with Mibbit.

And uh, don't we want those people to use a standalone IRC client anyway?

No matter how many times you post a link to get people to get an IRC client, 3/4ths of the people don't listen.
