I wana see the results of this, it will show how many extreme hackers there are on the site, and how many newbies.
Newbie: Umm, where do I download the NSMB ROM? And .NET Framework? Oh, okay, got it. Let's move some objects around and make a hack! Simple: I can make cool new levels, I understand sprites, sprite data, entrances, views, paths and stuff enough to make awesome levels! Regular: Hey look, custom tilesets! And BGs! And graphics My hack looks custom amd pretty. Advanced: Yay, I understand how palettes work, and I can do black magic with them. Multi-palette tilesets, blah blah. I can h3x 3d1t c0d35, 1m 50 31337! Complex: ASM haxx0rz. Nice. I can do interesting short ASM hax0rz. And I dream in h3x c0d35. Extreme: Hey! I know everything about NSMB. I can trash the world map and code my own. I can make custom bosses! |

Well if YOU are complex, then I'm over extreme.
 This what you mentioned is not even hacking, it's modding. Hacking is when you take HxD or any Assembly tool and takatakataka different signs and that's what I did on MKDS scene. Though I never programmed a single tool, my research surely made it easier to make tools for others. And right now I'm digging in MKDD. So yeah, I'm Advanced.

Well, the poll is wrong itself. It should be called "How skilled are you" or something like that.
I don't tell that you have no talent but the real hacking is just editing numbers in hex editor. So I can't blame you for your choice. |

I would call myself an extreme hacker, since I am hacking for over 4 years now and I just can do almost everything except of complex ASM hacks. But at least I do know partly how ASM works .

Voted advanced, but this is the kind of poll I think needs to die in a corner because some folks just won't resist the temptation to overrate themselves.
I consider extreme hacker as someone who can handle ASM well enough and put it in practice on an almost-daily basis. If we go by that definition the only ones, on the top of my head, who are extreme hackers are But that does not change my point that : _really good hackers are usually recognized as time goes, and rightfully so; _you can tell if a hack is good or garbage; So the point of this thread is kinda moot... |

I voted regular. Any tricks I discovered were either editor tricks or testing specific combinations of sprites until they worked properly, and any hacking I've done was through the editor. I think I'm good with level design, but that isn't hacking. EDIT: As of this edit, 10 people voted advanced or above and only 4 people voted regular or lower. A lot of people think very highly of themselves. ♪♫♩♬ |

I voted Regular because I can only mod. (I can't do ASM Hacks or such things yet

Well, this poll is rather strange.
I think extreme would be to people who can ASM hack and stuff. Complex should be knowing how the game works, changing stuff like models, music, more advanced use of complex sprites, etc _________________________ |
