You mean the health and safety screen thing? That's not part of the game, its part of the DS firmware. You can't edit it.

Actually you can. At least you can make everything white or edit the layout of the letters. They are split up into 8x8 rectangles. If you want to make your own logo there, you'll have to spend some weeks on it. The information of the layout is stored in an Overlay file which I don't remember right now.

EDIT:
Just found the post where I already explained it once:

An entry from my NSMB Hacking Diary (Google Docs) I made with  Freeze:

23.01.2012

The offset 0x2099 in the OV 1 can change the text on the bottom Screen, while the Nintendo Logo appears. But I could not figure out the format. I always end up with a freezing game or some different random crap. But it is possible to edit it.

EDIT: I know its possible to edit the NINTENDO red thingie, too. But I didn't write down what Offset it is

I think he's talking about the firmware boot screen. The first thing that appears when you turn on the DS. Not the *game* boot screen.

Also about that "diary"... Why won't you share it? Keeping it secret is stupid.

Oh that. Well that's surely not editable
Why we didn't share it:
Because we forgot the existence of it until now (at least I forgot it). And there aren't that much useful information I think. Well, I will make a thread with the important information.

Or just post it as-is?
Owait no... Its German right? Lol.

Also its interesting how its hardcoded into the overlay. I wonder if its part of a narc, like the ones found in arm9.bin

Ooooh the game icon. That's in the banner.bin file. It contains a 16color palette and graphics. I haven't coded ability to edit it in nsmbe, you can use other tools for it.

The Google Docs "NSMB-Hacking-Diary" contains just some little pieces information, all people already know about.
We posted all interesting stuff from it I guess.

Also we won't share it, because there is also private stuff in it we would like to keep to ourselves (At least I want to keep it to myself). Don't worry, it's not something interesting that helps people hacking, but it helps us keeping in mind our "new" (haven't written on it for months) found stuff. (Sprite Data, Offsets, ...)
We have already posted all of it, as told before.

Indeed.
Its like the Luigis Mansion hacking group, in which they refused to give info of the model format, halting progress (since they abandoned the project IIRC)

There's no excuse in keeping stuff secret.
If your hack being better depends on you knowing stuff and not sharing it, then you're doing something wrong.

That's why all the code for the nsmbcr is open source on my github, for example.

Also, I consider that keeping knowledge secret is an offence to the NSMB hacking community and should be forbidden. Was this my board, I'd already have banned you as well as ray for that.

But since I have no power, the best I can do is deeply scorn you.

Why would you keep stuff secret...?
It will help out the whole community of hackers for the future, so we don't get 10000 questions on how something works, when somebody already knew, but never shared.

Omg. Can't you read? Also we won't share it, because there is also private stuff in it we would like to keep to ourselves. Not private knowledge. It is PRIVATE STUFF.
I won't discuss this any further.

You owe us some explanation about that then. It's a bit unclear.

It is all about our "career" as NSMB-Hacker. We have got epic level themes in there that we still want to make.
We have got a lot of ideas in there we want to do. We have written personal stuff in there what we think about someone and what sucks and so on. We have collected stuff we would like to remember (PERSONAL STUFF).

BTW: I owe you nothing. Just saying. Also don't get me wrong, but this topic always makes me rage.
