UPDATE : beta 4 available





Hi everyone, I'm maybe new to this forum but not necessarily in hacking.
Anyway I present my hack, New Super Mario Bros For Super Players (NSMBFSP to make it short).


Why the acronym For Super Players ?
_Well I was in a dire need to find a name for my hack, I knew that the japanese version of Super Mario Bros 2 (the real one) got renamed Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels when it got internationally released on Super Mario All-Stars (SMAS), oh crap NSMB The Lost Levels was already taken, hmm...
But then I remembered the japanese version of SMAS (called Super Mario Collection btw), and that SMB2 got renamed Super Mario Bros 2 For Super Players.
You can say that this hack aims to be to NSMB what SMB2 was to SMB (and no NSMB2 doesn't count).

Hack's features :
_Addition of a 4th pipe color (blue, glitch-free);
_End-of-level castle are now in NSMBWii / post NSMBWii style;
_Grey End-of-level castle for secret exits (with correct behavior to boot);
_Mini-mushroom / Blue shell / Mega-mushroom / Spring spawned from Brick Block;
_Mega-mushroom spawned from Invisible Block;
_Spinning Logs were completely revamped;
_Sprites/Objects that synergize well with each other AND team up well against Mario/Luigi (think for example of a level filled with Scale Platforms and ... Sledge Bros !)

Download patch (EUR, not US)

NOTES :
Initially I wanted to make the hack public only when it would be fully finished, but I eventually realized that I was dragging this for too long so I'm releasing a beta now.
All tilesets and backgrounds in this hack are free for use.

Of course, using NSMBWii graphics is unoriginal and frowned upon because all the cool kids have already done it.

But I like your level design. Haven't found any big issues with it from what I've seen in the video...

Dont worry about using NSMBW tilesets Your level design is good. (the castle level was awesome BTW)
My only complaints are the grassland dark tileset, because it looks odd, and the underground level feeling empty.

Well sorry for the graphics, originally I planned to keep the graphics as-is, but I know the trigger that make me fell into the trap, it was because I found the mushroom platforms (sky levels) not so pretty , so yes I am a little weak here lol.

This looks alright, I'll play it when it's more complete.

I like the looks of that tileset in the 7th screenshot.

Good job! I liked the honey thing from the 7th screenshot. (SMG2, isn't it?)
Also, I've never seen hacks with that black and white panels of the first level.
And your level design is great. This will be a great hack once finished.

I also forgot to mention that Hammer Bros in W1-1 is harsh. Those enemies are bastards to beat.

This hack looks GREAT. From watching the video, I can tell you have some great original ideas. I'll definitely play it sometime soon and come back with some feedback.

I finished level 2-3, but I'll update to beta 2 only when all World 2 is done, so for the time being here is a screenshot so you have an idea of the layout.

I'm finished with level 2-6 as well, only 3 more to go and beta 2 will be available.
(Credits to  ray for the sand waterfall idea)

There's still another problem, everytime a ROM is patched the jyotyu tileset FREAKIN' reset its tiles behaviors to default, every time; problem is it kinda... breaks the game as the blue pipe no longer works and is needed to get some secrets...

So I decided to switch versions and work on EUR version as of now, which means that US version is now discontinued.

EUR version works, but even then it only works if it's patched via xdelta, a nmp. patch will still break the game like the US version.

This is the version 3, still 2 complete worlds, no new levels but some graphics were rehauled.
