Obviously, the poll result will be obvious, but I just wanted to know how many users of different OSes are around here.
And while we're at that, I'll also put some Linux distros in the list. I, myself use Arch Linux, and I also have Windows installed on my desktop for playing games. |

I tend to use Windows more often for reasons, but I absolutely LOVE Ubuntu Linux.

My Main OS is Ubuntu, which I use for nearly everything. Programming, PHP programming, browsing, etc.
I also have Win7 for windows-only stuff, like Visual Studio or games. |

I do not really know what I use!
I either use Linux from scratch, Ubuntu or Windows (7/XP). |

I have Windows Vista, and it's crappy as all hell. Getting a new laptop with Windows 7 soon though.

I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit Edition. It makes all programs on my computer run faster if I can get 64 bit editions.s and I use that because I can have more RAM.

Actually, x86-64 is slower. Lots of proof online. One of them is Microsoft Office. Microsoft recommends that you should use the x86 edition of Office, instead of x86-64 because x86-64 is really slow. More RAM isn't necessarily a good thing. I find x86-64 useful if you always run RAM-intensive apps, such as VMs. |

Do you mean Microsoft Office as in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and others. I use the 2003 version of it. ELMario, more RAM eliminates the speed problem when running those programs. _________________________ "What to know what happens if someone assassinates dirbaio? He dies. NOW WHAT!?" |

Not entirely true. Sure, you might notice a difference between having 256MB RAM and 2GB RAM, but it also depends on the speed of said RAM, and also your CPU speed and the amount of cores you have. |

Niko: I almost forgot to consider the bus speed!
Yea, bus speed makes a big difference too. There is too many factors to consider when measuring the speed of computers, but I know for a fact x86-64 or not makes a pretty noticeable difference. Man, this thread is turning from a poll to a computer education thread... |

I also agree that this thread does seem to be turning into a computer education thread. _________________________ "What to know what happens if someone assassinates dirbaio? He dies. NOW WHAT!?" |
