I'm probably falling for their trick, but somebody on youtube mentioned a "nsmb beta cart" on a NSMB beta related video.

Here are all my conversations with them (http://www.youtube.com/user/commanderliamthx):

I can't find anything on ebay.

Has anybody seen the mentioned ebay page or maybe a blog linking to it?
(Or even got/bought a prototype).

The only special versions of nsmb that I know of are just timed demos (E and U versions) of the final game but you can find roms of them and they are for sale on ebay too so I'm not interested in them.

It's a bit (more like a LOT) late, but I recall seeing a demo cart at one point on eBay. I assume it was the Kiosk Demo, though, so there wouldn't have been any beta content.

What else do you remember?

Was there a picture on the cart?

One of my friends has the Demo-Version, but it doesn't run on my 3DS. Obviously, it's the Kiosk-Demo.

Ray: Really?!
You MUST get your friend to dump the ROM! NOW!

EDIT: I googled it and they're already dumped. Both U and E demos.
Has anyone looked at them to see if they have beta stuff or something?

EDIT2: I looked at the U demo in NSMBe. It looks like they made it "on top" of the final ROM, it has everything the final ROM has, plus some extra files for the "seizure warnin
g" thing and other crap used in the demo. I don't think it has unused stuff.

It has the NARCs for MvsL, even though MvsL isn't playable in the demo. It doesn't have the minigame NARCs though. It probably doesn't have minigame code either, there's a few less overlays (125) vs the retail U rom (131).

And it has an annoying timeout that triggers in a few minutes: "Thank you for playing. Continue your adventure in the retail version". BLEH.

So yeah, derp.

Where is the part that shows the end of the demo, thanks for playing? How could we put it in? ASM? That could be useful for people who want to put an expiry on their hack when it is not finished and in beta.

An expiry demo! Thats EPIC.
If all files from the final version of NSMB are already in the kiosk demo, you could just import an NMP patch of your hack to the Beta ROM.
Then you should hopefully end up with a game, that has got levels that will expire after some time. Also, you can edit the File in the Beta ROM, that says "Thanks for playing. Play more on the retail version".
Change it to "Thanks for playing. Play the whole game when the final release has come!".

Yeah, that's been dumped and does not contain any beta stuff that the final does not also have.

You have just bumped a thread with pointless information. A definite prototype may well be released soon, it may as well be not.

Hey, "Commanderliamthx" here. I know bumping old topics is usually frowned upon around here but I thought I'd close this off once and for all as if there's actually anyone out there still following this.
Sorry if this disappoints anyone but I was 10 when I made those comments and they weren't true, as a few users here have already guessed. I saw a retail demo cartridge on Ebay, thought it was a beta cart, made some comments about it, found out they weren't betas, and still tried defending my point instead of owning up to my mistake. It's stupid but that's all I really have to say.
