Well I was playing around, and apparently importing W8-Final Castle, Area 1 anywhere else seems to work fine (which includes level rotation).

Apparently there is something in the level that makes rotation work.  Dirbaio said it may be some activators that do the trick. I haven't figured it out yet though.

Its something in the level file. If you want a rotating room, just import the final castle and edit it

So we should go figure WHAT is that.

I've seen that the three views that rotate have Unknown 2 set to 1.
View 1: Output ID 36
View 4: Output ID 37
View 5: Output ID 38

Also, the ?-switch brick sprite in View 4 is placed wrong, but it looks right if you look at the corresponding position in the "rotated" view on the right. This is because, when you enter that view, it's already rotated. Same thing happens for entrances.

I've tried duplicating a section where there is rotation (The first place where you encounter rotation) but no luck. I created the similar block layout, the view, the Unknown value, the path, and the ? switch too but maybe it was the wrong View ID or something else.

When the room rotates the following happens:
First it just rotates all the objects in the view you are in. (With the video)
After the rotation the objects in the view get instantly replaced by the ones out of the view.

I have made a level in NSHB ones. If you want to test it, go ahead. I will post it tomorrow.

Lol I dont see the problem in setting it up.

1. Replace your level with Area 1 of Final Castle
2. Delete every view you dont need, but the one which should rotate should stay (or you just make a new view with the same settings)
3. Place a brick with ? Switch in the upper right MIDDLE of the view. (so if the middle would be the "+" you have 4 16x16 blocks around it. Use the upper right. The others will work, too. But often the upper right is the best )
4. Set the acitvation ID to 36, 37, or 38 And copy the other settings, too.
5. Then create beneath the view a copy of the objects but turn everything upside down.
6. Play and it will work.

THIS is the problem.
The point of this thread is to find out WHAT is in the level file that makes rotation work in 1-Final castle and not in other levels. Importing the level in another slot is no fun

Has someone tested if it's the Unknown 2 in the view settings!?

I tried to get a switch after rotation in the first room, but then the switch doesn't appear after rotation! Does NSMB delete the sprites during rotation?

Not all sprites, but I'd say the switch gets deleted because in the castle they didn't want you to rotate again and go back

I also suspect that this behavior is hardcoded.

Pardon me if this is completely unrelated, but to make the level loop sections (located in the final castle too) requires special data as the rotation do? I mean, I haven't got to work the loop sprites in another level only than the final castle part where it appears.

No, it does not need special data. I got it to work in one of my levels.

I think he just figured out how to make the room rotating, what we already did. Maybe he doesnt understand that we are looking for the stuff that is CAUSING the room to be rotatable.
