New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe! is a full New super mario bros. hack, which is a remake of "Super Mario bros. 1" and "The Lost Levels". The original levels have been recreated faithfully, but thats not all! The first 5 worlds + some levels in World 7 (And one in World 6) have been expanded with custom areas. This custom areas holds the Starcoins. But the entrances are hidden, so you will first have to find an entrance to this area in the original levels  Level style varies from New Challenges, to Retro Inspired custom areas! The 5 cannons located in the game have been expanded, so now they are a full level, having at the end the warp cannon. To add some more fun, the original Warpzones are there, but you must find them first! (dont worry, the original warpzone pipes will exit you near them )As a bonus, 4 of the best Super Mario Bros. Special levels are included, hidden as extra areas! (would have included more, but most of those levels are almost identically to SMB1  )The bowser Jr. fights have been modified to add more challenge. Some features -The remakes includes all the levels from SMB1, and all the levels from TLL, including Worlds 9,A,B,C & D! -New custom areas. -To add the feel of the original games, both of the original retro graphics have been update to fit in with the NSMB style, while having the same look as the originals. Plus, the original theme of the original levels have been preserved! -New BGs such as the night time have been created to help set the mood of the original game, plus that NSMB feel. -And also, most UI suff have been changed, and the hack includes all brand new bottom screen backdrops! -Be sure to watch the trailer for a preview of the hack  Have fun! (Name of the hack is obviously not final, but im starting to like this one, as I am to provide themes that arent common in MK games
)Figured id share it here too. This is a hack of Super Mario Kart I have been working on the past month after picking up my past dead SMK hack of 2010. New content include: -Brand new themes: all themes (minus rainbow road) will be replaced. -24 new tracks: All tracks will be changed, including the 4 battle tracks. -New graphics: to suit with the new themes. BGs, some road tiles and palettes will be changed to accommodate the new themes. Im also planning to edit the menu, podium, title screen,icon etc. graphics. Current Progress: -All new themes have been decided. 3 new themes are complete. 5 themes have already their main road palette and extra road tiles changed; just missing the new BG. -Completed tracks Mushroom cup - 5/5 Flower cup - 4/5 Star cup - 3/5 Special cup 5/5 Battle tracks - 4/4 Total - 21/24 Videos: Sparkle Oasis 1 Raceway 1 (outdated, see pics for current version) Jungle Ruins 1 Evening Isles 1 Images:                  I will try to keep you updated with new videos and screens. _________________________ |

Theres nothing racist about not supporting it. The JPN rom works different than the US one because different memory addresses and other stuff. The usa version was chosen because its the most common one used here and elsewhere. Adding support for other regions is more consuming. _________________________ |

Now, this is a topic that I really like; level design is an acquired skill.
As a player you can get a feel on what is a "good" level. If you enjoy it, chances are others will. Looking into the original levels from Nintendo is a great starting point. Usually, a level is centered on a specific theme/gimmick; an idea you can start upon and build from that. From the image, it looks to me like the classic grassland with a small emphasis on pipes. The lower one is indeed empty; however this doesn't necessarily means stretches or empty are wrong, as the other factor tou need to take into acocunt is the theme the level is. For example, huge linear floors kinda make more sense on castles and Ghost houses, but not on grasslands. The first image feels more like a grassland level in the NSMB series since it includes slopes. The only thing I personally don't like to do on grasslands is use the square ceilings, as they look weird. For me, the huge corner on the slope to the secret area looks weird; I'll would rather add a small 2x2 bump to make it look less rectangular, and the other thing I kinda dont like is the huge section of the ceiling for the second starcoin, as it feels unnaturla for a grassland environment to have such geography. What you could to is, to reduce the rectangular look of this, by either adding a slope to the top left corner, make the ceiling less long and only just the length of the coin and the breakable area; the coin in the 2x2 space, a 1 tile gap between the brick on the right, the 4 coins, then another brick, and to look less rectangula, leave a 1 tile gap with the ceiling corner on top. This also applies to the middle ground between the pipes; you could make one end to reach all the wya to the bottom, or reduce the rectangular look by adding a 1 tile bump. This is just touching the surface, but I hope this helps
