So yeah, there is effort being made towards multiplayer hacking, but I'm wondering, is it really worth it?
In my opinion, multiplayer hacking would be cool if co-op was hacked in. Otherwise, well, there's not much material to hack. 5 small levels made for competitive gameplay... Main difficulty with multiplayer hacking is, you guessed, the unability to test shit in an emulator. I have some ideas to overcome that, but they'd still have to be tried. _________________________ Kuribo64 - zrghij |

This is kinda offtopic, but fine.
Idea 1: HLE Basically hijacking calls to Nintendo's wifi API on ARM9 side. Not feasible easily, though. That API relies on callbacks a lot, which complicates matters. Idea 2: LLE Doing it the proper way, emulating the DS wifi so two instances of DeSmuME can connect together. DeSmuME is already able to do it to a point, but it can't be used for testing multiplayer. DeSmuME uses sockets to communicate, which may be too slow given MP requires tight timing. Also, MP uses special features of the DS wifi device that aren't completely documented. _________________________ Kuribo64 - zrghij |

Are there only two people (unlcuding me) that like the VS mode?

I'm sure there is a lot of people willing to test the co-op hack if it was ever created. I thought the biggest difficulty would be getting large sprites to work like bosses etc. or even get the overworld to load. |

You can't even get to that stage if you don't have two compatible DSs, roms and flashcards. Emulators significantly speed up debugging.

I would be glad to co-operate with your project. I've Modded the VS gamemode before. And also i got 2 DSs so i can always test it. New Super Holiday Bros - Mario Kart GTA San Andreas |
