Hi.
I am working on 1-A of GSMB and I wanted to know: How to make the camera scroll vertically only in a certain place by using zones or any other way? Like, the rest of the level only scrolls horizontally but, like some certain part(s) of a level, it will scroll vertically. Does anybody know how to do this? |

Use the vertical scroll stop sprites. 198/199.

Unless if I say something wrong, all is detailed in the sprite database.

How do I use the vertical scroll stop sprites??
I don't think that the sprite DB will be more detailed. |

In order for these sprites to work, they must be consecutive in the z-index. This means that you must create a sprite 198 first, then immediately create a sprite 199. This can also be done by selecting a 198 sprite, pressing Raise to Top (pg up) then selecting a 199 sprite and doing the same. The camera will be restricted vertically within the area from the 198 on the left to the 199 on the right. Then set them both to "top limit" or "bottom limit" and you should be good. |

It still didn't work. I just placed 198 first, THEN 199. But it still has no effect ;(

I think this is what you're looking for: http://nsmbhd.net/get.php?id=2230 What I did: The camera will never scroll outside of the view, so you need to make it larger. If you want the camera to not scroll below a certain line, you need to put the sprites at the bottom and set them to "bottom limit" The view needs to be set to "scroll vertically" |

OK, thanks! It worked!
I'll also use this if any other of my levels contain this feature. Thanks piranhaplant! |
