I've discovered while working on my ROM hack that working with 100 seconds per level can be tedious. The addition of level clock timers can make certain levels more enjoyable and more realistic, especially in towers and castles where people might only have 30 seconds to defeat the boss. I've noticed how Newer was able to implement this mechanic into the game and was wondering if there was an easier way to add it into the base game. I'm trying to stay away from all the "Newer-based" hacks that simply take the Newer engine as a base and just add a few things and call it a day. I want to keep the game as close to the original engine as possible and do not see that as a viable option. I've attempted to pick the out the ASM from the Newer source code and reconstruct it into my hack with no success. Is there a better way to add the Timer Clock into the hack or am I SOL?
