feels weird to see people around me have kids and stuff. maybe it's just me and Peter Pan syndrome or someshit.
I looked at the stuff on his website, and that Akiles stuff... it made me think of that access point I got a while ago, for the sake of my little WiiU gamepad project because that access point was also cloud-managed. it's an OpenMesh A42 and it's made for public buildings, hospitals, airports... you could argue that it would make sense for them to be cloud-managed, so you can install many of them and keep their config in sync automagically, but that can also be done without the Cloud. you could just have a PC or whatever that keeps track of everything. anyway. it was cloud-managed, until the company pulled the plug. which meant that what I had was essentially a fancy brick. until I found instructions for installing OpenWRT on the OpenMesh A62. I cracked my A42 open and sure enough, it was mostly the same stuff, and I was able to replicate the instructions and get OpenWRT going. lil' story, because the whole "cloud-managed" thing makes me think of that, and "externally enforced planned obsolescence"/"usable until the company goes under". ah, isn't capitalism fun? anyway, back to dictatoring. _________________________ Kuribo64 - zrghij |
