-Actually, you can play as wario but it is extremely hard. Here is a list on how to get wario in New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS.

(Note) You need to have beaten the game before you do this cheat.

1. At the main menu select "Mario Game".

2. Select any file you want, but as you are selecting hold down the L and R buttons and press A. This will let you play as Luigi. (Note) You can only unlock wario while playing as luigi.

3. Once you start make sure you have World 7 unlocked. (Note) If you don't know how to get this world you just have to defeat the world 5 end boss while being tiny by getting a tiny mushroom.

4. Go to that secret world.

5. Defeat the end castle in that world you have chosen while being Tiny Luigi. (I know! Its sounds pretty hard! But the thunder lakitu in world 7 is the only way to unlock wario.)

6. After you have defeated the boss you will go back to the main map. Select any level in world 7 and you must, i repeat must, defeat all the enemies and collect all the coins in that level. Note (This doesn't include coins that come out of enemies when you hit them with a fireball.)

7. At the end of that level make sure when Luigi jumps on the flag pole that he gets any amount of fireworks. To get the fireworks make sure when you land on the pole the last two numbers on the timer are the same and above 1. Ex. 122, 133, 144, 155.

8. When you finish the level, if you've even gotten this far, then go to World 8 and go to the final castle. Not the castle with dry bowser, the final, final castle with giant Bowser and Bowser Jr.

9. Defeat Bowser and Bowser Jr. and watch the credits (I know it gets boring but stay with it. Don't shut off you're DS.) And, if you've noticed, instead of it telling you how to play as Luigi in the background, it will tell you that to play as Wario, Select a file->L+X+A. Which means when you are at the file selection screen hold the L button and X button and press A to select a file. And BAM!!! you are the fat, ignorant, slob Wario!!!!!!! congratulations!!!!!!! if you managed to complete this cheat then you are the grandmaster of video games and i worship you! if you havent then its alright most people cant figure it out either but its good that you tried.
