EDIT - August 22, 2017: MKDSCM 3 Link Updated
What you need: MKDS Course Modifier 3 (http://forum.wii-homebrew.com/filebase/index.php/Entry/614-MKDS-Course-Modifier/ ) OTHER VERSIONS WILL NOT WORK NSMB Editor A NSMB ROM A MKDS ROM (why it's needed is because MKDSCM 3 can only read MKDS's NCLR, NCGR etc. files, but it can't read NSMB's NCL, NCG etc. files. However it can read NSMB BNCL files) ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP OF THE FILES BEFORE EDITING! (in case if something goes wrong That's it. If you have any questions related to this, post them here! _________________________ ![]() |

This is great!
But really, someone who can program should make a tool to edit the NSMB HUD screen, so that we won't see the MKDS Icons anymore, but the World number, progress bar, etc. Then modifying this will become a lot easier. |

So I guess this very short summary says how the Bottom Screen* stuff works:
- Bottom Screen stuff that don't move (like the placeholders of Mario's lifes, the Score and the Star Coins) use *.nsc files. You can just modify them by using NSMBe and Hypernova99's tutorial. - Bottom Screen stuff which are inconstant and/or not permanently visible (like amount of coins, amount of Mario's lifes, etc.) use *.bncl files. To modify them, you'll need MKDSce and this tutorial. Am I right about this? Correct me if I'm wrong. (*This is not only for the Bottom Screen, since the Time and Coin counter are on the Top Screen. I'm wondering, are there specific names for this sort of stuff that use BNCL and NSC actually? Or is what I'm saying now the definition of 'HUD'? ![]() |

Almost exact: But there is a thing that doesn't move and it is in BNCL, the Item Box (The thing that pick the item).
And with this tutorial, you move only the graphics, not "on you can touch" Posted by KingYoshi I'm wondering, are there specific names for this sort of stuff that use BNCL and NSC actually?) Hmm, it's name is Bottom Screen? (I mean BNCL + NSC) |

Would it be possible to get the Coin counter and Timer from the Top Screen to the Bottom Screen?

Posted by KingYoshi Would it be possible to get the Coin counter and Timer from the Top Screen to the Bottom Screen? No, because the top and bottom screen HUD use different NCL, NCG and NCE files. _________________________ ![]() |

Has somebody tried to move (for example) the timer over (in Y) 256 (not 192) and if it is showed on bottom screen?

I doubt that would work. But maybe you just have to change some value in the Raw data so it appears on the Bottom Screen(?)

GOOD NEWS...
We can consider those methods to be outdated, as the latest NSMB Editor Beta 4 can edit .bnbl and .bncl files without anything extra. https://github.com/TheGameratorT/NSMB-Editor/releases/tag/v5.3b4 _________________________ ![]() |
