When I was a kid, I had nightmares quite often. When I woke up from a nightmare, I always heard an extremely scary sound, consisting of many layered sounds, like a sort of ringing.
The earliest more clear memories I have from hearing this after a nightmare are from when I was around 4-5 years, but I seem to remember the very first time I heard that sound, probably when I was like 2 years old. All those memories have now become very, very dull though, but it's still burned into my memories very deeply that hearing that sound after a nightmare had to be an extremely threatening experience, and was probably one of the most intense fears I've ever felt, even up to this day.
The 'peak' time, when I had nightmares most often was when I was like 8-9 years. I woke up from a nightmare most of the nights, and always around 3 AM. Again with hearing the terrible ringing sound.
Nowadays I haven't had a real nightmare for years. I don't dream very often anymore for the last couple of years, but when I dream, it's almost always a dream that I want to experience again since recent years.
Up to this day, I still experience the ringing sound: When it's night and I can't sleep, like now, when I listened to music too loudly, or when I drank too much. It doesn't make me feel scared anymore though.

I once had a dream where I was playing an odd version of Pokemon Black, and everything was out of place, and when I went into a menu, there would be a nude lady in a shower for some reason, but at least in the dream there was a fog censor for it, because I did not really like what was going on.
