Also

3DS without 3D = Failure, could be more useful if used as an ax to cut wood. (XD)

I am one of the people (Probably only) that can't afford any DS, Wii, Wii U, 3DS or not even a 2DS, not a NES or SNES even.

Me moneyless ):

I've been playing around with the 2DS, for the last 2 days.
I can say, before I've got it, I was fully against it, but I thought, "Why not?".
So once I've got it, my starting point was "Meh...", and it went to "Awesome!" in no time.
It's light, it's small, fits my handbag, it's a flat-design, it's comfty, what else is necessary for a Handheld?

To begin with, I played Mario Kart DS on it, and my hands hurt before Lap 3 started, but over time, I realised I don't have to put my fingers at the top of the Shoulder Buttons.
In fact, anywhere the Buttons are located at works equally fine, even the lowest-possible part of them.
That's good, because I have tiny hands, to small for a 3DS XL, and understanding how to use it really helped.
And in the end, I couldn't resist not touching the 2DS anymore.
I understand the hate against it, but once you try, it's great.
I even went to the local Games Stores to let them play my 2DS, and even they changed their minds from "Hate" to "Love".

Emulators are not illegal, ROMs are.

I heard that its only one screen, so that makes the upper display a 'touchscreen' too...I wonder if something can be programmed in the game to detect a touch in the upper screen, to hide ester eggs & stuff

It can't, Nintendo pasted plastic above it.
If you take the 2DS a bit on its side when turned on, you can clearly see how deep it is.
I can't achieve it with a Camera, but I can say, the Top Screen feels a bit 3D-ish, because of this, like the Screen is deeply built into the Screen.

Edit:
I guess I've got it.
Top Screen.
Bottom Screen.

Seem logical. One screen is cheaper than 2 screens

So, what if we take the plastic off the screen? Is it possible?

Unscrewing and opening Handhelds is always possible.

So? Isn't it possible to program a super-well hidden easter-egg into the game so the player has to take of the plastic by a screwdriver, open it and take off the plastic, and then, tap a certain thing on the top screen?

Nintendo won't approve it anyway.
If I'd do that, and submit it to Nintendo to put it in the eShop and/or in stores, they will disapprove it, which will cost lots of money.

Oh, OK. But how will Nintendo know where the egg is if the developer won't tell them?

Games wouldn't require you to disassemble your console. Why am I even hearing this kind of utter nonsense?

I doubt an easter egg by detecting touches on the upper screen would be possible, too. This has to be compatible with software made for a 3DS, meaning the screen is likely seen as one non-touch screen and one touchscreen.
