And I think I finally understood why.

That's because I was using a ROM who already has its overlay 0 decompressed.
Re-uploaded the patch by using a clean-clean ROM this time http://nsmbhd.net/get.php?id=1313.

There's still another problem, everytime a ROM is patched the jyotyu tileset FREAKIN' reset its tiles behaviors to default, every time; problem is it kinda... breaks the game as the blue pipe no longer works and is needed to get some secrets...


That's because NMP patches don't include overlays and overlays are needed for jyotyu. That's why you need to use XDelta.

Small update :
I managed to restore the lost stalagmite bottom bg in slot 36 without breaking the bottom bg in slot 35 (probably was done before ?), so this is how the fg 36 and bg 36 look when mixed together.



I wonder why Nintendo staff (purposedly or not) made it so the slot 36 use the d_2d_I_M_back_chika3_ncg and not the d_2d_I_M_back_chika2_ncg like it supposedly should ?

I have no idea why they did that, but I really like this background and your hack The only problem I'm having is that I'm forced to use the EU ROM and I do not have a cheat to enable saving game at any time, which can be annoying since the hack is not finished

Some discoveries :
Sprite 175 (the bouncing bricks) glitches HORRIBLY with Mini-Mario, dunno if I will remove them altogether or not.

Look at this video, Yellow clouds (slot 20 for the first, slot 59 for the second) are animated, and no I didn't touch at the background slots, so that means the original backgrounds (4 and 50 if you are curious) are still animated, WOOHOO.

But in all seriousness, I apologize for having somewhat given up on the hack.
To make up for it I updated the hack to beta 4 : Here

4 new levels added : 4-1, 4-2, 7-1 and 8-2, bringing the total of completed levels at 22 out of 80.
Some levels that are not finished yet : 3-1, 5-C, 6-1 and 6-6 notably.
As well as some other changes.

And of course screenshots :

Well you don't expect a magician to tell you how they manage their tricks now do you ?

Jk, jk I manipulated the tileset 3 palette (the underground with the ice), which is a palette that contains the twinkle animation for ice blocks, until I obtained the desired results.

I actually ripped the mushrooms myself (no offense) from the 5-4 preview screenshot on mariowiki, in fact I wasn't even aware you had a deviantArt.
Had I known earlier it would have saved me a little trouble, but I see this is no ill-intented act from your part so thanks anyway.
