Sorry for double posting but just want to let know that download link is now avaible. You can find it in first post wich i update pretty often. If you find any bugs or have any suggestions about this let me know.

For now I'm working at Retro Island and Nighty Grassland.

Anyway, I'd like to ask if could someone help me improve my logo since this one looks ok but nothing more.

I got question. I've made custom icon for my hack in editor, but when i turn on my DSi, it shows standard NSMB icon. Has anyone got solution for this?

It's because there's another one, look:




Step by step:


1- Open NSMBe

2- Go to ROM FILE BROWSER

3- Open "FILESYSTEM"

4- Open "root"

5- Open "ipl"

6- Click (but don't double click) on d_new_mario_ncg.bin

7- Then click on "LZ Compress"

8- / 9- Do the same thing for d_new_mario_ncl.bin

9- Double click on both

10- On the 2D Texture Editor, click on "View in 4bbp format"

11- Do anything you want to the image

12- When you're done editing the image, save and close the window.

13- Then come back on the first window, and LZ decompress d_new_mario_ncl.bin and d_new_mario_ncg.bin. (if you don't do this, the game won't work! and maybe crash something!)



14- Have a nice day!

Anyway, got more questions:

1. I'm working now at Retro Island and I want to make custom gradient background. I make it with GIMP program but every time i upload it into hack it looks awful. And here's my question. Is it possible to simplify this gradient backgroud from GIMP to make it look that you see stripes of colour - something similar like SMAS, SMW2 or NSMB gradient background?

2. Is it possible to make button that make's water lower rather than rise. For ex. I want to make room filled with poison water and a button that you need to press to make it temporary lower. I know that rising is avaible but don't know how about lowering.

PS: Where world icons are located the one you click to move to another world?

First of all:

The icon looks fine for me. I like it.
Now your questions:

1. What do you want? Try to half the bg (if possible). And double it in the editor.
2. Try setting "speed" higher than 128. Maybe it works.
3. root/uiStudio/UI_O_1P_course_select_d.nce.bncd
root/uiStudio/UI_O_1P_course_select_o_ud_ncl.bin
You have to LZ Compress the palette and enter 16 Color.

Ok so back to my question.

1. When i said about gradients I mean that:


As you see after conversion in NSMB editor an orginal gradient looks pretty bad. In last picture i show how it should look like (I don't mean colour but style of gradient). My question is how I can make my gradient to make it look like the last one but with diffrent colours.

2. And about lowering poison water.

It works ... but only partialy. When i set speed to 144 (1) the water lowers with speed 15 (2) but after lowering for ex. 6 the water appears at 6 times higher (3). I belive that even if water lowers, the game thinks that water have to be 6 times higher so that's the reason why it's glithy. It's hard for me to explain so here's screens:

Here's a small preview, how retro world will look like


Also I accidentaly find glitch, wich allow me to enter area from diffrent level (as you see in video). I don't know if anyone done same first but I though it might be usefull.

PS: Need suggestion what texture should i use for this (retro) world if every world will be in diffrent style. This custom and pretty simple background I'm going to use in every level. If anyone could help me with that, it would be cool.

And also still need beta testers.

When I though about "Retro World" I planned to do a world, wich will contain levels from games older that NSMB itself. I still got 5 levels to remake, so maybe one level will be from NSMB2.

Gotta question. I have problem with Lakithunder battle. I mean there's a glitch. If you download demo and try to finish world 5 castle, there's battle with this boss, everything is ok but he can't shoot thunders, I mean you can't see them but he shoot them. Is it problem that i used diffrent background, or is it involved with something diffrent.

Soon I'll have more free time (because of my upcoming winter break) - that means that i supose that till half of Febuary i should have done 3 - 4 Worlds. Hope I do this.

I'm going to post some screens from Retro World how i plan to make it - check first post, where now i post all stuff dedicated to this hack. Also a good new is that I'm working at custom music and there's big progress.

I really have to say something:

I call people who build retro worlds lazy. Because they just copy a level from Nintendo. They don´t have to think about anything and a good hack should life without smth. like that.
Using an idea of Nintendo but building a new level with it is ok in my eyes but complete copies are useless.
