Hey everyone! I haven't been following the scene in quite a while, but looking over the forums, it looks like you've all figured out some neat stuff.

Can anyone give me a handy list of new stuff we can do to hack NSMB?

Welcome back! It's been a long time!

About technical discoveries, there's not much new.
I found that tilesets can have up to 4 palettes: http://nsmbhd.net/?page=thread&pid=14314#14314
I'm probably forgetting more stuff though.

And there's been improvements and fixes in the editor, and so on, of course

Nice to see you back, Garmichael!

As  Dirbaio said, most of the improvements in hacking have been additions to the editor. The UI is way better and levels can be created much faster. I'm not sure exactly when you left, but the editor can probably edit some new stuff since then.

Apart from what  Dirbaio said, the community remix (the collaborative hack between everyone) has finally started.

Also, will you host more contest?

You can somehow change the overworld, but not its paths. I think ELmario and ray managed to change the model of the map.
But what you can do, is change the textures of the models in the map.

I was thinking about hosting a contest. My thought was an autoscrolling Airship level. Does anyone have an airship tileset?

 ray has one I made for him to use in his hack.
Other than that, there's one somewhere, the graphics in there come from MFGG, but it has been so overused that it's not cool anymore... So dunno.

We also discovered some sprite stuff... And I managed to make Toad playable in my Hack

Yes please, upload the airship. I kind of want to do some magic to it.. Maybe even render it out in 3D and use that.
