I honestly prefer the forum system
 , I get lost in Discord. Also forums will always have that nostalgic vibe attached to it. Idk I just came back to hacking and (re)found a new passion which is all this  Yeah I've seen you guys a lot in February and whatnot, are you like a Hack team? |

at this point, the forum mostly exists for post archiving. there's a lot of information here that people likely still benefit from. there's no practical point for communicating here as it's no longer 2016; that's what the discord's for. (it just recently became a viable replacement, with features like threads and replies and whatnot)
that and the wiki. (and the nostalgia factor) |

The forums have been in a huge collapse since 2018; that's when most of VG modding communities moved to Discord, and right now new communities are beginning on Discord servers instead of forums (which was widely seen until 2016-2017) For other modding forums; Kuribo64 is in an even worse state when comes to activity, as there're only up to five users (and rarely one or two more) active within 24 hours. The game they focus on (SM64DS and NSMB2) have mostly migrated to Discord. And two of the forums (RVLution and RHCafe.us.to) were shut down after 2016, and the games they focus on (NSMBWii and SM3DL) have moved to Discord as well, as with the other communities. _________________________

So basically as far as comparison goes, NSMBHD is quite good actually (no at all)
But yeah, we just have to live with it and accept the harsh reality I think we still have about 20 active users  so that's somethingBut this forum still works great as a place to ask some hack related questions and whatnot

Discord is great for casual chatting. Forums are great for retaining information in a way that can be searched by anyone, as well as sharing projects.
Neither of these two are going anywhere- forums are simply turning into archives as Discord is good to the point that just about all communication has been moved there. Remember that one of the weak points of Discord is its lack of outward accessibility: search engines cannot comb through it, and searching through DMs via Discord's own search function is finnicky at best. Face it: conversations are disorganized. That's normal and expected. Discord should not be used to retain information. You can simulate a forum environment within Discord using an abundance of thoroughly categorized channels, but more often than not this isn't how it's used. Discord can be thought of as a walled garden: no matter how public your invite, servers are never outright public public like the rest of the internet is. Also- whenever a server splits into sub-servers (such as hosting a whole server for your hack) this adds to the issue by creating another barrier of entry. If forums required invites for you to view them, they would never thrive because you wouldn't be able to find them. This board isn't "dying" any more than it previously was- so long as you use it to suit your needs, that's all that matters. |

Indeed, wise words, in conclusion we can say that Discord is better for communicating and the forum is better for retaining information that people can easily search like Thierry said, and no, the forum isn't dying, it's just not as active as before, sometimes I take look at here when I need specific information, tutorials or assets for my hack, and nostalgia as well.
