There are two kinds of open/save dialog boxes in windows.





I don’t really like the second box type, but I do see this one when opening/saving files with some programs. One of the main reasons I find this box type quite annoying is because there is no address bar where you can fill in a specific address and you can’t search folders and files.

I was wondering if there’s a way to “force” windows to always use the first box type (or to “add” the address bar and search field to box type 2).

In the "File name:" input field, just type in the path, and press enter.

the second one appears to be that of Windows XP. maybe it depends on how the program was built, what version of the system DLL it uses, etc...

The second one appears all the time in old programs, staple. Although the only problem I have with it is that it takes more clicks to get to the downloads folder (which is where everything I download stays for eternity) :p
