I'm sorry for asking , but i cannot find a way to open those.

Mario Party DS and Mario Hoops 3-on-3 have all the files inside lz7 files and i don't know how to access them.

Help please

Use 7zip(? - unsure) or WinRar to decompress them. The rom files are suppose to be inside so you can do anything you want with them once you decompressed the .l7z archives they are in.

Oh I see. Well they aren't supported by NSMBe.


But maybe if you exported, let's say, a bca.lz7 file and renamed the extension into simply .bca, you could of edit it as a simple .bca (with something that'd support it of course)


EDIT: Then manipulating the file (hex editing it and maybe decompressing it would maybe be needed)


Well the more I detail my post, the more it seems impossible to me.

If the file extentsion isn't lying, its going to be some kind of LZ77 compressed file. Your best bet is to try out the different tools that can be found via google for this sort of file.

thanks for the kind answers.

Ok , so with NDS EDITOR i actually think that i unpacked the files.

It gives me the files in the same format as in the picture above BUT without the ''.lz7''

As far as i know , BMD files are models , i looked it up and the extention is mostly for GAMECUBE MODELS.

I tried BMD Viewer but the model doesn't show up , it says on the top left corner something like ''unsupported section''.

There are many different formats with the BMD extension. What is the header of the file, when you look at it in a hex editor?

I believe that is a model due to the fact it says material. But I could be wrong. Maybe try every file explorer?

We already knew that it was a model , as listed above.

EFE opens only nsbmd models , it doesn't open BMD.

a DS game that used BMD is Super Mario 64 DS , Yet the only tool that opens those only support said game , and nothing else for whatever reason.

I think that its an editor called Tinke or Tinkle something like this, try that one to open the .bmd files.

Also, if it is the same format as used in SM64DS, just import the BMD into SM64DS, then SM64DSe can view it.

Must be a different format then, if you did the decompression of the lz7 right, and the importing into SM64DS right.

Hiccup is right, many games can have the same file extension but have different formats.

If you know how to program, you should look into researching how 3D models work. As for making a converter, here's a quote from Takis (author of BMDView) on emutalk:

"Hm, basically I open a file in a hex editor, look at it until I see what some of the bytes could mean, write a little program to test it my assumptions work, and if it works for about 5 different files I assume that my guess was right and I move on to the next block."

I don't know anything about 3D model formats, but I do know one thing: NSBMD stands for Nitro Resource Binary Model, and BMD stands for Binary Model
