Currently I have no real video player script.
It's the HTML5 player yet.

So cool, you know how to embed a video into a page.

Do you have any clue what it'll take to turn that into a real video sharing site like Youtube?

You don't get what I mean. I don't know if you're aware, but Youtube isn't run by one random kid. Nor is it hosted by a freehost.

If you plan on making this a thing, you might be a little bit in lack of bandwidth and storage. Unless you happen to have a giant fucking data center handy, of course.

Meh, in a few days he will switch to another project. He always does it. For a while there was like one new project every week. Not that any of them ever got anywhere.

lol

"Each of the four new Google data center projects unveiled in 2007 cost an estimated $600 million... In its earnings reports, Google reported $1.9 billion in spending on data centers in 2006 and $2.4 billion in 2007." (http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/google-data-center-faq-part-2/)

Good luck. It's even more out of the reach considering you've been using free hosts for everything...

You probably don't need datacenters as big as those of Google to get a video sharing site working, especially in its early days.

Doesn't mean that a simple webhost will do either. Video sharing takes a LOT of bandwidth. Unless you come up with some revolutionary video compression algorithm.

And then of course, you have to give reasons for people to use your site rather than another. Which is the real difficulty, considering all the nice little features Youtube comes with (when they're not broken).

First thing is how Youtube handles video uploading. First, it's asynchronous, and Youtube lets you edit the video's settings while it's being uploaded. Youtube also processes your video, extracting preview frames and converting it into various formats/resolutions. It's more than a basic file uploader.
