When I save a wiki page, クリボー gets replaced with ????. Could this be fixed? NSMB is made by a Japanese developer, so it would be helpful.

It sounds like a problem in MySQL.
Is the Wiki Page Table set to UTF-8 General?

Who cares, though? The site's official language is English. The amount of people around here who can read Japanese is probably ridiculous.

It doesn't seem to be something specific to the table, just to the wiki (which uses bbcode).

That means that we cannot record information about Japanese file/code/internal names in NSMB games.

Again, who cares? Wikipedia is good enough for that stuff. We're a site about hacking the games, not a museum.

Wouldn't it be helpful to know what the internal names of actors are, in certain NSMB games? The wiki is, in a sense, a museum for things that are helpful for NSMB hacking. (Wikipedia wouldn't allow something so specific anyway).

If you provide a translation, it might be useful, but it's more useful to know what they actually do.

I was going to put the internal name (which is in japanese, and may tell you some early functions of the actor with some actors, unrelated example: コレクションコイン), a translation of that name (Collection Coin), and a more useful name (like Star Coin).

But why would I want to know that "Star Coin" means コレクションコイン ?
The wiki should document the important things. I mean, knowing that Star Coin (Collection Coin) means コレクションコイン won't help anybody in NSMB Hacking.

Maybe not Wikipedia, but your point still stands when one remembers that mariowiki and tcrf are a thing.

Might be useful for the unknown/unused shit, yeah.

Otherwise, yeah, who cares.

That is exactly what it is for: unknown/unused shit.

I've hosted the table externally now, anyway. I can get on with working out which actors are which now.

Either way, I was going to provide a (basic, using google translate + dictionaries) romanisation and translation, so understanding wouldn't be needed.
