Everytime I try to edit pipes at all they end up corrupted, and even this makes some of them turn pink. It isn't even consistent!

You have to export the images one by one and import them one by one.

With recreate pallete?
And saving only at the end? |

Recreate the palette the first time, then export them with existing palette. When you reach a new pipe color you need to recreate the palette again and import the following with existing palette until you reach the last pipe color.

Export all bitmaps and then edit them in the way you want, import all bitmaps and dont forget to "save all".
