As I am sure you guys have used these tiles for backrounds or images. There is the problem with these though where they seem to be in front of sprites. Like when you hit a mushroom/flower block that is within these tiles. Or, even enemy in pipe goombas will start off behind these tiles for a second.

This is an issue in my hack that hopefully can be resolved. Is there some substitute tile behavior that will always allow sprites to be on top? Or any fixes for this?

I'm afraid there are no fixes for this

The ? block and any backround tiles are coth on the level layer. It's not possible to make a sprite (the powerup coming out of the ? block) to be in front of the BG tiles and behind the ? block at the same time because they're in the same layer.

Maybe we could hack it to make it in front of both, but that'd look like shit too.
