We haven't fully planned the game publish feature yet, so we don't really know the answer to that.

I thought that was the entire purpose of Scope. If it isn't, then what is?

It is the purpose. It's just that we haven't planned the publish feature yet.

That should have been the very first thing that you planned, since it's WHAT the plan is.

How is Scope going to be different from other publish-based tools, like Steam, U-Play, and Origin?

I don't understand what you're trying to do with this. The linked page and the first post says this will be "a handheld gaming console on your computer screen", with a paid app store. In addition to what Garmichael stated above, his raises some questions:

1. What exactly does "a handheld gaming console on your computer screen" mean?
2. What distinguishes this from already existing PC content delivery platforms? (e.g. Steam, Origin)
3. Is there a market for this? Have you done market research?
4. What are you using to process app store payments?
5. For paid apps, what is the split between how much developers make and how much "Scope" makes?
6. Will you have a return policy?

This project is stated to be finished by 1/1/2014, which is in fewer than two months. For this to be successful, you need to have easily communicative answers to all of these questions right now. Can you answer these questions?

Look, this looks promising, but...

1. The date of when it'll be finished... You'll probably have to work 24/24! Well it depends what you mean by finished but I think that's too early. Especially if you didn't do research in marketing and making programming languages and all that stuff you want to do.

2. I totally agree with Garmichael, TRS, Arceus, and Mega-Mario. well in fact I do dislike Mega's harshness but I agree with the last post he made.
Mostly, read TRS' post :P

3. This looks almost like Steam... If I was more harsh I could say you're steam copycats.

Basically what everyone said.

(And calm down people ._.)

High Speed Loading would be one.
With a single click, you are instantly taken to the game you want.
So, its not going to lag or anything.
And im making this for games that I have always wanted to make, so I can easily put them in the appstore, but if other publishers want, they may be able to publish their games to the store.

1) Think of it as a Nintendo 3DS on your computer screen.
2) High Speed Loading, Better Interface, More Features (Everyday Tools, etc..)
3) No and no. On the website, there is planned to be an Apps page when finished, and there you can buy apps in .sap format through paypal.
4) Most likely to be paypal.
5) 1/2 and 1/2
6. No, due to when you have added a certain app to Scope, its permanent. I may add a feature to remove apps though.

Im not very confident on the marketing questions due to the fact that most things are going to be free, but yeah, some paid things too.

You can't.
Your able.
But you can't.

Your NOT doing this right, for 1 you do NOT make the start screen first, I didn't make that yet for my game, get something DONE.

2. What language is this coded in?
3. No, it won't load that fast, everything takes time to load.

4. You will NOT have it done in 3 months, but TWO?

You guys are able to make something like this, but your doing it wrong.

This sounds like a kid's dream. Unless your games are less than 1KB in size, this is just impossible.

you can buy apps in .sap format through paypal.

There's a blatant design flaw there.

If you just give the file to the user directly, they could very well upload it somewhere and redistribute it freely.

Have you even thought about any security or methods to enforce payment?

There's also the issue of patents and all. If you name your thing 'app store', Apple will inevitably try to sue you.

2. What language is this coded in?

It is TOP SEKRIT!!!1!1!1!1111

Because obviously knowing that Windows is coded in C is enough to be able to replicate it and sell free clones of it.

When I think of that, all I think of is emulators, which I've been told isn't what this is.

I don't understand the concept of a portable console on a computer.. by being on the computer, it's automatically not portable - and portability is the only defining quality of a portable console.

It'll just look like a handheld to look 'cool'.

Which also means the player will be restricted to a tiny game screen even if their monitor is Full HD.

Completely new games? Nah, I think they will be very short games because I doubt you want to program games that take a month to playthrough. But please not games like this:

That is, if they get lucky and find a magic way to resize the window.
Which is, honestly, unlikely.

Speaking of windows... Is this just gonna run on a Widnows computer or on Linux, Mac and Windows? Using a .exe would be a flaw. Suggestion: go hurry and learn Java!
