What is the best software combo for separating the ghost house from the World 3 Model to a separate NSBMD?

I am using Mario Kart DS modifier 4.0 beta 11 to export World 3 Map to .obj
Then Sketchup Pro Demo 2013 with TG's obj importer.
The textures are messed up, so I paint my own textures (textures in the model) on the ghost house.
Delete the bit's of the model that is not the ghost house.
Export it with TG's exporter and also with sketchup exporter.
Import it to Sketchup Pro Demo 2013 to check if it worked.
And it's blank.

I would prefer all alternative software to be free.

BTW once I am done, I will post everything I made to be free to use.

Incentive.

Sounds like its the exporter problem. Because it shouldn't be in blank when you export it form sketchup if you can see the model.

Use another object exporter (or the one sketchup has)

Or use another 3d modeling program.

Is there really anyway to do this and convert it back to nsbmd at the end without purchasing expensive software? (yes apart from pirating as well).

Im afraid not. Since you need maya to export any .nsbmd whatsoever.

Somebody really needs to make some software for this.

A plugin, converter or something.

BTW does the autodesk maya trial lock down completely when time's up or does it just remove some features?

As far as I know, Maya 7 hasn't got a Demo.
Also, use Sketchup's built in OBJ exporter. It works completely well.

You said you used "TG's exporter."
That's why I suggested to use the sketchup OBJ exporter.

Sorry, the sketchup exporter had the same problem.
I wasn't sure if to put that in the main post.

BTW did you use an particular settings or the default?
