Hi i'm having a VERY big trouble with one of my homework problems, i have completely no idea what to do, i spent the whole evening trying and didn't succed.

here's the figure in the right if you can't see it very well.

I would really like if you explain me how to do it or you write step by step and if you can, tell me why you did each step so i can learn it. In the back of the book, it says that the answer is 35 but i need the steps.

Please, and thank you for your time

This is an angle bisector...I kind of remember what you are supposed to do.
1.Find the degrees of all angles.
2.You should add all the angles's degrees together, you should end up to an answer higher than 450 degrees.
3.Then I think your supposed to use either Division or Square Root.
4.Use the either of the mothods to solve the problem.

I think these are the steps, but however I highly suggest that you DO NOT rely on these...I could be wrong. I will try to help you the best I can.

No. The total sum of the angles cant be over 180 degrees. Look at the image; its a half circle.

Yea I knew I was wrong.I'm still trying to find this out.I learnt it in school but I forgot over the years I think  Dirbaio knows. It's worth a try.

You know that angle of m?XYZ is 180°, and so,

m?WYX + m?UYW + m?ZYU = 180°

Also, because of the bisecting angles you know that,

m?UYW = m?ZYU

Using that knowledge, you can write

180° = m?WYX + m?ZYU * 2

Substitute the expressions given for m?WYX and m?ZYU and solve for b

180° = 2(12b + 7) + (9b - 1) * 2
180° = 24b + 14 + 18b - 2
180° = 42b + 12
b = 4°
Since m?UYW = m?ZYU you can substitute and find that m?UYW = 9b - 1

Insert the value of b found before and you will get the answer

m?UYW = 9 * 4° - 1
m?UYW = 35°
Hope this helps!

Good times.

well when my teacher was doing it, i hink it was something like
2(12b + 7) = 2(9b - 1)

Why don't you ask your teacher then? It is the teachers job to teach you.

Because for my bad luck it was the last period of the day on friday so, i couldn't go after school because i had an appointment with the doctor (that's why the office called me) and by the time the appointment was over, the teacher was already gone
