I dont know if you guys heard it yet. But apparently, some people are trying to develop a new game console, which would be accesible for many people. Its called the OUYA. Its android based. Also, one of the pros it has is that the console itself would be some kind of dev tool, so you can make your own games, whithout all the other console publishing restrictions and fees. Its pretty much indie games style. It would have some big titles such as minecraft, and other popular games. Also, you can download any game for free, but this is like some sort of demo. Its also rootable, and its hackable.

I dont know about you guys, but im pretty excited. I don't know if its a scam, but seems pretty legit.
Anyway, here is the kickstarter page in which has some more information and a video detailing many things the console will feature.

It already have a hefty sum of money backing it ($4,862,697 pledged of $950,000 goal), so it may become true.
The game console would cost 99$, and here are the specifications:

-Tegra3 quad-core processor
-1GB RAM
-8GB of internal flash storage
-HDMI connection to the TV, with support for up to 1080p HD
-WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
-Bluetooth LE 4.0
-USB 2.0 (one)
-Wireless controller with standard controls (two analog sticks, d-pad, eight action buttons, a system button), a touchpad
-Android 4.0

And of course, an image of the console (warning, large image):

Interesting. This has nice specifications, a stylish design, and mostly, no silly homebrew lock. See the 3DS for example, if the Crown3DS thing gets real, that means Nintendo completely failed at blocking piracy, while they pretty much killed homebrew. And I think that piracy hurts sales more than homebrew programming so ugh.

On the other hand, it is less exciting if you can run homebrew without having to hack the system and get around security measures

gridatttack, your kickstart URL there failed. You should probably fix it.

Anyways, the OUYA seems pretty interesting. And pretty cheap too ($99 OMG!)
Though if the RAM could be upgraded than that would be sweet (Though I don't think so).

I actually like that it supports homebrew because then it would be easier to make stuff for the console. Like I can run my Python code on it!
