I have an R4i Gold.

The website on it is www.R4iGold.cn

I wanted to play new games but it required new kernel and the website doesnt provide great kernel updates. The new kernels dont even work with new games and the other kernels for other R4iGold are updated to the point that they work on 3DS's. Seems that the card I have is a clone. Can someone verify that this is fake?

Because i was thinking of buying a new flashcard if this one turns out to be fake. It just seems to lack features that other R4iGold cards do.
Also if i was buying a new flashcard what would you recommend like which one is easiest to update and most compatible with homebrew etc.

Thanks

Try this alternative kernel out:
http://gbatemp.net/topic/260549-wood-r4i-gold-114/.

Maybe if it's a clone it won't work, I don't know.
Keep a backup of the kernel files you have now, obviously, in case you have to go back.

Another thing you could try is hex editing the files you have now and look for strings. For example, a friend of mine bought a weird R4 clone, and looking at the kernel files I saw it was in fact an M3 clone (there was text about "M3") and Wood M3 worked perfectly on it.

Yea, I know, clone cards are crap
If you're not lucky you'll need to buy another one...

Another thing you could try to play newer games is patch the games themselves, instead of updating the kernel...

I usually try to look for patched roms but no luck . Just wont boot at the menu :p

Ive reformated and added other software and it just isnt work.
The link seems to be broken. It brings to the page but the download link to filetrip is dead.

I googled this firmware and all the links are to the one on filetrip lol.

Good for me I know the seller and i didnt buy it on ebay or anything so im just gonna get an exchange for a newer flashcard sometime this week when i got some free time.

Thanks for the help

EDIT: btw what flashcard would you recommend because i am definitely NOT buying an R4 again had so much trouble with them.

I don't know much about flashcards, I have a crap R4, and the Supercard DSTwo. They say it has good updates, and it works on 3ds/DSi... But it's quite overpriced.

If the R4i kernel really sucks, use YSMenu like I did a while back. I used it on my N5 (Yes another horrible R4 clone) when I had it at the time.
