I've seen a lot of people "swapping" racers out with custom "static' models from other games.... I was wondering how they do it, and what they use. I really want to add birdo and rosalina to mario kart ds, but I don't know how to swap their racer models.... any help?

So does that mean if I download a character file that someone else has already used in-game, I can just skip to the last step where I switch the character and texture files? Also, to get into the game file, Do I need Mario Kart Course Modifier or EFE?

I know I'm not Yami, but I believe that you need to have MKDS Course Modifier, since its specifically made for the game.
Edit: Also, just do the last step of replacing the files.

You can't save in ROM using MKDSCM, the save function for saving edits in the ROM it's self is broken, you can only save things, if you edit them out side of the ROM, you can however, use EFE to do in ROM edits.

I think when you hover over a character in the character select, it plays an animation of the character. I think you might've removed that animation when replacing the model somehow.

I ran into a problem... I'm using a fox model from Starfox and it has its own animations. They work perfectly when you're playing as it, but when the computer plays as it, it sits in a awkward T position.

In MKDS there are two types of models: The high poly which is the one that is animated and controlled by you, and the low poly which is used by everyone else except for you. (Not animated but has arms forward)
Either you replaced both models with the high one, or the model doesn't have the hand sticking forwards like the others.

And to answer you question on your other forum, use MKDS Course Modifier or EveryFileExplorer to extract, and Blender/Maya for editing models and the such.

How do I open a .nsbtx in blender? It never shows up when I tried to open it. I can open the .nsbmd file by importing it, but the texture won't open...
