New Super Mario Bros. 3 is an enhanced remake of Super Mario Bros. 3 by NSMB hacker SKJmin. New Super Mario Bros. 3 contains most levels from Super Mario Bros. 3, however also contains original content, consisting of more challenging, and puzzle-oriented levels.
By name only, it can be considered a sequel to  MarioFanatic64's New Super Mario Bros. 2: Doki Doki Panic!! Edition, and is the second finished New Super Mario Bros. hack following the former, and preceding New Super Mario Bros. PC by  Gerry. v3.0 is currently latest version.
