"New-ISH" Super Mario Bros. DS is a hack of New Super Mario Bros. created by  Skylander. It was announced on April 24, 2018, and released on May 2, 2018.

As its description says, "New-ISH" Super Mario Bros. DS is a sort of "crossover" between the original New Super Mario Bros. and Newer Super Mario Bros. DS; a hack created by the Newer Team. Multiple assets from Newer Super Mario Bros. DS are used in this hack, most notably the music, which was ripped straight from that game.

1. Development

"New-ISH" Super Mario Bros. DS was announced on April 24, 2018. It was unknown exactly when development started, but  Skylander has said that he started the hack spring 2017.

On that same day, April 24, 2018, a video was posted by  Skylander showing World 6-A in a near final state. A day later, screenshots of the title screen, World 1-5, World 2-, World 4-A, World 5-3, World 5- World 6-6 and of World 7- were all posted to the main thread. All of the screenshots showed levels in their near finished states.

On April 27, 2018,  Skylander announced that there were only five levels left to "remodel." He also announced that the game would be released in the first week of May. Two days later,  Skylander said that he was going to change the you'd unlock World 4 and World 7. Instead of having to use a Mini Mushroom, they'd use World 2- and World 5- respectively to get sent to World 4 and World 7.

On May 20, 2018,  Skylander officially announced that the hack would not get any new updates. He explained how he was busy with driver's ed, and that he must move on to work on his new hack: New Super Mario Bros. U DS.
