Hi! So I've been working on a new hack myself and I seem to have issues with the backgrounds. Whenever I import a custom background it looks very poor quality like if the NSMBe program had difficulty importing it. However I've seen hacks like Newer or Super Mario Endless Earth (great game btw) and many others have custom backgrounds that looks HD. Do you guys know any tips on how could I make my backgrounds look the same quality as those?? Thank you!!

If your backgrounds are poor quality in NSMBe it's very likely that they have too much details, backgrounds in NSMB are made of a certain amount of tiles, if your custom background exceeds that amount of tiles, NSMBe will try to reduce them causing some quality loss, the best ways I know of improving their quality is making your background less detailed, more repetitive and try to avoid gradients, a technique I recommend is reducing your bg size to 256x256, copy and paste it in the remaining space.
iirc, some backgrounds in Super Mario: Endless Earth were tiled manually, hence why they're high quality _________________________ My YouTube Channel |
